INNOVATION & DESIGN THINKING

prof. Rodriguez

through a collaboration between Elisava (Barcelona School of Design and Engineering) and PEMB (Department of Strategic Plan for the Barelona’s metropolitan area), a private non-profit association promoted by Barcelona’s City Council, the team of four master’s degree students worked on a semester-long project in the spring of 2019.

THE CHALLENGE: to help PEMB create a strategy that engages, involves, and connects their key stakeholders. using the design thinking methodology and the tools learned in class, the team uncovered the extent of the agro-alimentary industry and its complexities, learning the importance of each one of the stakeholders involved. after understanding the key roles in the industry, lots of interviews were made with people representing a different part of the food system.

in a nutshell, the team developed a strategy called BCN Crowdfooding, which considers everything mentioned before. the proposal will help pemb connect the different stakeholders and will get common people to engage in the food system as well.

it was carried out by a team of students during the postgraduate studies in Innovation and Design Thinking, Elisava, Barcelona, Spain. 2019.
